Certification and Licensing of ITAP’s Tools PDF Email
ITAP International certifies individual consultants and trainers/facilitators within organizations, associations and companies to use its proprietary tools. These tools include:

  • The Culture in the Workplace Questionnaire™ (CW)
  • The Global Team Process Questionnaire™ (GTPQ)
  • The Organizational Team Process Questionnaire™ (OTPQ)
  • The Action Learning Team Process Questionnaire™ (ALTPQ)
  • Competency Profiler
  • Competency Assessor
  • Competency Transcriptor
ITAP International also licenses companies, organizations and associations to use ITAP International's tools and services. In this case the certification process is provided as a part of a general licensing process.

In order to obtain a license to use any or all of ITAP's tools, a company or organization must have one or more of its trainers/facilitators become fully certified by ITAP. A company or organization that purchases a license agrees that the specified tools will be for internal use only and that they will allow only ITAP-certified trainers/facilitators to administer and apply the tools in interventions.

The Culture in the Workplace Questionnaire™ (CW)

The Culture in the Workplace Questionnaire™ produces a cultural profile of the respondent that displays individual preferences along five cultural dimensions: Individualism, Power Distance, Certainty, Achievement and Time Orientation. The CW was developed by Geert Hofstede, the pioneer in quantitative measurement of cultural differences.

The Culture in the Workplace Questionnaire™ provides individuals with increased self-awareness and a better understanding of how their culture, as well as the culture of others, influence the working relationship. It is typically used by those supervising multinational workplaces; those working in countries other than their own; and by members of global teams. The CW is typically introduced by line leaders, executive coaches, and facilitators.

Upon completion of the Culture in the Workplace Questionnaire™ certification program participants will have:
  • Certification to deliver the Culture in the Workplace Questionnaire™ in their practice areas
  • A grounding in the relationship between culture and the workplace and in developing multicultural perspectives
  • Background on the use of questionnaires in cross-cultural interventions in business
  • Information about and demonstrated competency in using and interpreting the Culture in the Workplace Questionnaire™ results
  • Capability to deliver information about the application of the Culture in the Workplace Questionnaire™ in business, for example, working with global/virtual teams, leadership development programs, and cross-cultural workshop designs.

The Team Process Questionnaire System™ (TPQS)

The Team Process Questionnaire System (TPQS) supports the development of teams and team leaders and provides business leaders with critical information on the effectiveness of their initiatives across teams and team members. Thus, using the TPQ System results in improvements both in individual teams and in the management of teams.

There are three versions of the TPQS process: The Global Team Process Questionnaire™ (GTPQ), the Organizational Team Process Questionnaire™ (OTPQ), and the Action Learning Team Process Questionnaire™ (ALTPQ).

Both the GTPQ (for global/virtual teams) and the OTPQ (for teams with membership from a single country) provide information useful in determining both the level of process effectiveness of the team and in diagnosing targeted interventions to improve the team's effectiveness and productivity. When administered over time, they can track the process effectiveness - and therefore the productivity - of the team.

The ALTPQ allows for much more robust interventions in team process than are commonplace with action learning initiatives. Typically, feedback to action learning teams will be based on the observations of an external advisor/learning coach/consultant. The coach may not even be present during some of the team meetings and therefore will have missed some of the team dynamics being demonstrated. The ALTPQ compensates for this deficiency by collecting the perceptions of the team members themselves; therefore, the results are highly credible.

Upon completion of the certification program participants will have:
  • Certification in the use of the Global Team Process Questionnaire™ (GTPQ) and the Organizational Team Process Questionnaire™ (OTPQ) or the Action Learning Team Process Questionnaire™ (ALTPQ)
  • An understanding of the complexity of issues faced by teams
  • An understanding of the relationship between process and output on teams
  • Experience in using statistics in interpreting the GTPQ/OTPQ/ALTPQ
  • Exposure to the consulting process using the GTPQ/OTPQ/ALTPQ and to potential uses of the questionnaires.
CW and GTPQ/OTPQ/ALTPQ Certification Process
In order to become certified, the trainer/facilitator must first complete a Train-the-Trainer program on the specified instrument(s) and then, typically, deliver a program under the indirect supervision of the master trainer. Full certification is granted to the provisionally certified trainer/facilitator under one of the following conditions:
  • an ITAP Master Trainer approves them for immediate full certification
  • an ITAP Master Trainer observes them successfully facilitating an intervention using the instrument and approves their full certification
  • they successfully co-facilitate with an ITAP Master Trainer until fully competent in the use of the tool(s), whereupon they receive full certification.

Competency Profiler, Competency Assessor and Competency Transcriptor

The Competency Profiler, Assessor and Transcriptor tools are software applications which companies can purchase either individually or as a suite. Training in the use of the tool(s) and technical support are included in the price.

The software purchase fee includes the following:

  • 1 Year license (renewable)
  • 1 Day on-site Administrator training (excl. travel expenses)
  • On-line Administrator Manual
  • User 'Easy Guide'
  • 1 Day technical assistance including initial importing of company competency model(s)
  • Up to 250 users at base price (Higher user numbers priced proportionally)
  • 1 year technical support (technical support is available during normal UK business hours unless otherwise arranged)
  • 1 year upgrades to software provided free of charge
Competency Assessor:
  • 1 Year license and software
  • 2 Days on-site training (travel expenses additional)
  • Up to 5 users
  • 1 year technical support (technical support is available during normal UK business hours unless otherwise arranged)
  • 1 year upgrades to software provided free of charge
Competency Transcriptor:
  • 1 year license and software
  • 3 Days on-site training (travel expenses additional)
