What is the Team Process Questionnaire System (TPQS)?The Team Process Questionnaire System (TPQS) supports the development of teams and team leaders and provides business leaders with critical information on the effectiveness of their initiatives across teams and team members. Thus, using the TPQ System results in improvements both in individual teams and in the management of teams. There are three versions of the TPQS process: The Global Team Process Questionnaire™ (GTPQ), the Organizational Team Process Questionnaire™ (OTPQ), and the Action Learning Team Process Questionnaire™ (ALTPQ). The instruments provide periodic team wellness checks: Filling out the online instrument is very time efficient, about 15 minutes per person per iteration. The information and analysis from the results can improve:
How Do the Global Team Process Questionnaire™ and the Organizational Team Process Questionnaire™ (GTPQ/OTPQ) support teams?Global teams, because they represent significant corporate investment, require proactive attention and continued support. Such support can provide early detection of and response to looming obstacles in order to prevent them from hindering the team's productivity and effectiveness. Global team leader development, combined with focused team training, doubly improves the team. Both are provided through ITAP's global team consulting process. The Global Team Process Questionnaire™ (GTPQ) measures human processes on global teams. It provides a baseline for the global team's current state of human process interactions. Against that baseline, companies can measure change, identify areas for improvement, compare their results to industry averages, and measure the successes needed to figure out the actual return on investment. The Organizational Team Process Questionnaire™ (OTPQ) has characteristics quite similar to the GTPQ, but is designed for teams with membership from a single country. How does the Action Learning Team Process Questionnaire™ (ALTPQ) support action learning teams? The Action Learning Team Process Questionnaire™ allows for much more robust interventions in team process than are commonplace with action learning initiatives. Typically, feedback to action learning teams will be based on the observations of an external advisor/learning coach/consultant. The coach may not even be present during some of the team meetings and therefore will have missed some of the team dynamics being demonstrated. The ALTPQ, on the other hand, represents the perceptions of the team members themselves; therefore, it enjoys instant credibility. Through the skillful and selective interventions of a consultant, the team finds it easy to make meaning out of findings included in the ALTPQ reports and to assume an active role in shaping strategies to improve its effectiveness. As a result, team members are much more likely to be strongly committed to the success of those strategies. The ALTPQ guides interventions before patterns of negative team behaviors become firmly established. This instrument addresses shortfalls in team process when they are still malleable and receptive to positive change. Therefore, if used judiciously and wisely, the ALTPQ and associated consultancy lead to higher levels of team process effectiveness than are would be otherwise achieved. As a result, the consultant's effort provides added value to the team and to the client organization. |
